Free radicalsFree Radicals
Free Radicals by definition, is an atom or molecule that has one or more unpaired electrons and are incredibly reactive. Constantly seeking electrons from other sources in tissue, the molecules search diligently to find electrons to pair up with. Free Radicals are a group of elements that form under normal daily situations. These situations include, environmental chemicals and sunlight. Through the course of normal cellular respirations and metabolisms, free radicals continue to form,

causing tissue and cellular damage.
Cellular Damage
This cellular damage particularly effects Atherosclerosis. Atherosclerosis is the forming of a waxy material that is associated with plaque and leads to heart failure. Free Radicals are thought to be a leading cause of heart disease, auto immune deficiency, diabetes and cancer.
When the balance between antioxidants and Free Radicals becomes unstable, the result is the perpetuation of aging and chronic disease disorders.
DNA Damage
Free Radicals also have been shown to damage individual DNA, creating situations for irreversible cellular damage. In our ever polluted world we find that our bodies no longer are capable of eating as much anti-oxidant foods that we need to combat these Free Radicals.
In a healthy organism, our bodies actually produce Free Radicals to combat bacteria and viruses. The problem is that the older we get, the more Free Radicals we collect the more damage that occurs. If anti-oxidants are not present or are in short supply, well, the situation often turns dire.
Our immune systems are often the first to be affected. Lowered immune systems make us susceptible to viruses and bacteria that our bodies would normally be able to fight off. For the elderly, this is a leading cause of Hospital visits and often death.
Free Radical Scavengers and Disease Prevention
Free Radical Scavengers such as DMSO have been proven to be highly effective in reducing the amount of Free radicals in our bodies. The majority of scientists believe that anti-oxidants such as Free Radical Scavengers can reverse the damaging process that Free Radical molecules create. This allows our bodies to heal naturally from cellular and immune system damage.
Foods like fruits and vegetables are the best source of anti-oxidants. Eating 2 to 3 cups of fruits and vegetables a day will certainly keep the Free Radicals away. But who actually does that? The primary reason that fruits and vegetables are considered anti-oxidants is their Vitamin ā€˜Eā€™ and Vitamin ā€˜Cā€™ content.
DMSO as an Antidote for Radiation Poisoning
That having been said, it has been proven that fruits and vegetables carry an increasingly high amount of Free Radicals from the soil, through chemical fertilizer and pesticide usage. Not to mention the fact that all the worlds soil, has some degree of radioactive contamination.
DMSO has been proven to be extremely effective in the treatment of radiation poisoning. In Fact the antidote for radiation poising is DMSO. A Japanese study concluded that DMSO was the single most effective treatment for their patients in the 2011 nuclear plant leak in Fukushima.
